Unlocking Enhanced Asset Management with Asset Groups – Coming Soon

In the ever-evolving landscape of digital asset management, staying ahead of the curve is crucial. That's why we're excited to introduce Asset Groups, the latest enhancement following the 1.20 release in mid-November. Replacing Sensor Groups, Asset Groups bring a host of new features and improvements to streamline your asset management processes.

Expanded Criteria and Enhanced Flexibility

Asset Groups take the baton from Sensor Groups, offering users a more refined and flexible approach to organizing assets. With expanded criteria options and the introduction of case-insensitivity, creating AND/OR statements become more intuitive and powerful. This upgrade empowers users to precisely tailor their group configurations, ensuring assets are categorized with utmost accuracy.

Manual and Dynamic Asset Assignment

One of the standout features of Asset Groups is the ability to assign assets to groups manually or dynamically based on specified criteria. This dual approach gives you unparalleled control over group membership, allowing for both meticulous organization and efficient automation. Plus, assets can be assigned to multiple groups, providing a higher level of configurability while maintaining clarity in policy application.

Preview Impact Feature for Proactive Management

Asset management is not just about organization; it's also about impact assessment. The new "Preview Impact" feature lets you visualize the potential effects of changes, such as introducing a new asset group or modifying criteria, on your existing policies. This proactive insight ensures that your policies remain effective and aligned with your evolving asset landscape.

Seamless Upgrade Process

To facilitate a smooth transition to Asset Groups, the 1.20 release introduces a "Coming Soon" banner on the Inventory pages. Clicking on the "Prepare to Upgrade" button provides valuable information about the upgrade process, while the "Start Upgrade" button initiates the upgrade seamlessly. It's worth noting that there is no data migration from Sensor Groups to Asset Groups. Therefore, a new export button on the Sensor Groups page allows users to download configurations for future reference before making the switch.

Maintaining Policy Integrity

During the upgrade, Asset Groups seamlessly replace Sensor Groups in the UI. Policies applied by Sensor Groups remain intact but are labeled as "Assigned by Default." Dynamically assigned policies through Asset Groups take precedence, ensuring a smooth transition without compromising policy integrity. Manually assigned policies retain their status after the upgrade.

Enhanced Filtering and API Capabilities

Upgrading to Asset Groups not only brings a more intuitive user interface but also unlocks additional filters on Inventory pages. The Search API sees a significant boost from 10k to 200k+ in pagination return, enhancing your ability to retrieve specific asset information. The Export API is also expanded to match the contents of the Search API, providing comprehensive data export capabilities.

In-Depth Resources for a Seamless Experience

To guide users through the transition, comprehensive resources are available, including the Asset Groups section of the User Guide, the Asset Groups API guide, and the Policy Ranking API guide. Additionally, users can explore the blog announcement and overview videos for a more in-depth understanding of the new features and improvements.

As of November 27th, Asset Groups will take center stage, marking a new era in asset management within our platform. Upgrade, explore, and elevate your asset management experience with Asset Groups – where precision meets flexibility.
